How Do I Get My New External Hard Drive To Start Accepting Files Or Documents?

I have a new external hard drive because my orginal hard drive is getting full. I installed it already. How do I get it to start accepting files or documents. Please be specific with the answers please. Thank you!!!!

  1. sounds like you need to format it.if it’s showing in “my computer” right click on it and click format, a quick format will do it. If it’s not showing in “my computer” you need to go to disk management under administrive tools (you can find that under start menu properties) and format it from there.

  2. Just plug it the computer and save your files on it instead of your local disk. It will just show up as another disk in your list in Windows explorer.
