What Laptops Are Available Without A Hard Drive?

That means that they would “run” on a large flash drive (solid state).
I need one for our autistic son, I doubt a hard drive would survive long.

  1. TOKYO–NEC has developed a laptop computer targeted at corporate users that doesn’t include a hard-disk drive, the company said today.
The “PC Parafield” has been developed as a replacement for existing thin-client systems and combines both high data security with the ability to be used anywhere, says Hitoshi Onodera, a spokesman for the Tokyo company.Conventional laptop computers can work anywhere but represent a potential security threat should they be lost or stolen. Thin-client systems get around this by working off a corporate server. However they require a network connection to work properly, and such a connection is not always available,

  2. I don’t understand what you mean by “i doubt a hard drive would survive long”
Hard drives are internal, and flash drives are external.. so it would be more likely something would break beings OUTSIDE rather than INSIDE.
However, even if you customized a laptop, i’m not sure it would run correctly without a HD because you need to have an OS pre-installed.
