What Is A Good Deskop Computer For Playing Games Online?

I like to play FPS games and i hate lagging. What is a good computer thats affordable, when i say affordable i mean 500 dollars or less for the CPU the monitor and all the other stuff i can get. I really don’t care about brand or all that stuff that could become an endless debate. I just want a computer with good gaming qualifications.

  1. If you want to prevent lag you need to have a fast internet connection first and foremost.
After that the the next important thing is a graphics card and memory.
Any computer with a modern cpu (2+ ghz, dual core preferably, 1-2 MB L2 cache) will be fine.
I would reccomend buying an emachine for the case, cpu and memory. BUY a new power supply ( do that for ANY oem/ store bought pc) and a new graphics card.
Then make sure to get highspeed cable or better internet (DSL might give you problems based on your location)
Just remembee, in the $500 price point you get what you pay for, don’t expect to play games at full quality and amazing resolution. It’s a trade-off in price and quality.
(Also playing games in a low resolution and with fewer effects helps in online FPS games where speed is necessary)

  2. Look at the system reqs for your most high end games and try to match the recommended (and not the minimum). Basically you want a fast computer with enough RAM (3 gigs is good).
Most computers you buy at Best Buy, etc, have the requirements EXCEPT for a good video card. So you can do what I did: buy a stock system with enough hard drive space for games and downloads, and then swap out the video card yourself.
You can buy a decent video card for $110-200 bucks; check online at some places like Newegg or NCIX that have sales often…a lot of gamers shop there so you can read their reviews and see how it handles high end games.

  3. Getting a computer to play FPS’s is friggin stupid. If you said one of those multiplayer RPGs I would understand, but for first person shooters just get an xbox 360. Your computer is going to be obsolete so fast and you will have to worry about a plethora of technical problems that could keep you from playing a new game.
Now if you HAVE to get a computer because you are going to use it for school and downloading and other things, I would get a Dell

  4. I don’t know about good computers that come with great specs… but id recommend just upgrading your computer that you have now…Buy more ram and a new hardrive. Search the internet for anything else that gamers need.

  5. It will run you $800+ but nothing beats an alienware for computer gaming! They also have a monthly pay program!

  6. Gaming computers are graphics intensive. Brand is pretty much irrelevent. Make sure you have a 512MB PCIE Graphics Card, at minimum, and 4GBs of RAM. You might be able to do it for under $500.
