How Do I Connect My Laptop To A Pc Monitor Using A Vga Cable?
I have a Windows XP laptop.
After I plug in the VGA cable, I turn the laptop on and then turn on the monitor. The monitor shows the same thing that’s on the laptop’s screen when it’s starting up. But when it’s done, the PC monitor shuts down before it gets to the Log in screen. How can I fix this problem?

You need to set a second monitor by right clicking on your desktop (assuming you’re running windows), clicking either “properties” or “personalize” (whichever you have) and then clicking on the “settings” tab. There you will find options for adding a second monitor to your setup.
It may be that your system settings on the laptop are set to have windows not output to the other display. If you go to the display settings make sure it is not trying to output another desktop to that display adapter. The other possibility is that the display settings for resolution and refresh rate are outside the specs of the monitor you are plugging in, try changing the display settings to 800×600 or even 640×480 and see if you can then see the desktop on the monitor you are plugging in.
Can you right click on the laptop screen and change the output to monitor? I have to do that on my laptop.
