Try again.
Make sure the drivers for your 802.11x (wifi) NIC are installed correctly and up to date.
If DHCP still does not work, and there is nothing wrong with your connection, just use static IP and enter your nameservers directly into Windows.
If you don't know the addresses, you can grab them off of another machine that has working connection.
In Windows just run ipconfig /all and write down namesever addresses.

If you are talking about connecting a Desktop computer to a wireless internet connection. The the Computer has to have a wireless network adapter. Either built into the computer or installed in the computer as an add-on card or USB device. Is this what you are asking about?

to connect the new pc to the wireless network You make sure it has a wireless network card first
Wireless nic
if it does have then you will go to start
connect to
and choose the ssid of your wireless WAP
and connect to it you may need to enter a password if it is a secured wireless access point
you will also need to make sure that the winowns zero configuration service is started
(to do this )
right click my computer
click manage
and click services
and scroll down to the bottom
where it says windows zero configuration
and start it
That if you have a wireless card on the new pc
you will know if you look at the back of your pc for an antena
or You can use a usb wireless NIC
if you do not have one
then you will need an RJ45 Cable (ethernet cable)
hook it to the RJ connector on the back of your pc and the other end goes to any empty port available on the wireless router
you will be able to connect
Good luck

I would suspect that if you have a modern version of Windows and it isn't detecting your wi-fi, but it does work on the laptop, then the problem is that your PC doesn't have a wireless card. You have to either buy a PCMIA or USB wireless adaptor.
