When Using Wireless Internet Can My Computer Be Seen By Others?

At times my wireless connection automatically connects to my neighbors when my signal is weak. Can the files on my computer be seen while using someone else connection. I know I can see all of my neighbors files on there computer when I use there connection. There wireless internet does not have a password so I think that’s why I can see there stuff. Does anyone know?

  1. If they have some thing more than the standard router.
like a bt home hub for example it is a mini computer storing usage
logs etc it may even have a wireless light giveing the game away. Then yes.
You are using a laptop that is set to connect to an available network
i would set it only to connect to your network (network profile).
see manage wireless net works in control panel.
As for your question if you turn off network discovery no one can see
you. And if you turn off file sharing (your neighbours have this on) then
they will never be able to access your files.
Just right click your network icon (bottom right) select network and sharing centre, to see your settings.

  2. Naahhhh brooooo, it doesnt work like that.
But if you have bluetooth on for example, thats different from interent and you can be found.
