More and more ISP’s are monitoring illegal downloads on a “three strikes and you’re out” basis. If two formal warnings are ignored and the illegal downloading continues, the Internet service is permanently withdrawn.
People downloading illegally are either very selfish (“free” music downloads deprive the artist of royalties – part of his/her “salary” – to which he/she is legally entitled and which they get from legitimat download sites such as iTunes) or else they don’t understand how the world actually works. If you create something to sell, it is the money from sales of this item that provide the money to create the next item. If people are stealing the item, there might be no next item because there is no money to create it. This is why the media say illegal downloading puts the software and movie industries at risk. It is the money from sales (DVD’s etc.) of current movies that provide the money to make new movies.
The people downloading for free now are most likely the people who would be protesting the loudest when the release of new software or movies begins to slow down.
Tell that person he or she may lose documents, become a victim of identity theft and/or get porno installed on the computer. He or she probably won’t stop until one of these things happen. Then again, it depends on how bad they are addicted to using pirated software.
Pay for all their software…ummmm.. Rewire his/her brain?.. There isnt much you can do really.. There are much deeper reasons why people think its 100% okay to do…
Reasons Are:: a) Most of them see it many ways, Someone else Bought it and they want to give it away then fine.. Ill take it!
b)Bill Gates Stole Windows from Apple- (So Who Cares?)
c)Its not stealing, I hear the same songs on the radio.
d) Im not rich ($799 for WIndows XP Pro in 2003?)

Tell this person they are committing a Criminal Act of Copyright Infringement !!! Is this person very frequently downloading illegally from Limewire, Bit Torrent, and other torrent sites? I’m pretty sure the ISP provider will be giving him/her a call or warning notice pretty soon…
Run a good virus detector on their machine and see all the infections they have from their P2P downloads.
