It could be, I would suggest getting some sort of virus software. If you have cable internet your ISP may provide free software with your subscription (I know Comcast does).
If you do a virus scan and it finds nothing, or doesn’t fix the problem you should contact the computer’s manufacturer or another place that does computer repair.
